Requests & Comments

As I am posting new things about the downtown area, please feel free to make requests. If you would like photos, or videos of an apt complex, or information on a particular area, or complex, I would be more than happy to provide information. Thank you for your support, and comments!

Medical District Apartments

Near the Medical District, the following apartments are some diamonds we have found.

Fannin Street Station now called IMT at the Medical Center.
A 1 Bedroom starts at $1000
The website does not contain any interior photos, but the apartments are beautiful. Here is the video on youtube that contains some interior photos.  The apartments contain Granite counter tops  drapes/blinds included, Dishwasher, Air Conditioning, Cherry Wood Cabinets and the Metro is literally located directly in front of the complex.

Cons:

  • Online websites advertised 1 bdrm apt start at $899. When discussing this with the manager of the complex, they apologized about the price, but that it would be fixed and would not lower the price to the advertised price.

  • Little Spendy

Cons:

  • Very Busy Lobby
  • Management did not greet us, kept us waiting for over an hour before speaking with us even to say they would be a few minutes.
  • Laundry in on the patio in each unit.
  • Old fireplace

Parque Del Oro

Traveling to your University

If you are planning to attend University of Houston Downtown or Rice University, let me just tell you that it will take a few hours to get there from the other side of downtown due to traffic. Leaving, the best and fastest way to travel to the campus is the Metro Light Rail.

If you are planning to attend University of Houston Central, you are in luck. They are already building the light rail to run to it, but still have a few months before they finish.

Therefore, living closest to the Light rail is best for travel, saves you gas, and time in traveling through downtown.

If you plan to attend the University of Houston Medical, living within the Medical district is best. Most surrounding apartment complexes will offer a shuttle to take you anywhere in the medical district for $1 per ride.

Apartment finding websites

First off, when searching online for some valuable information on apartments individual apartment complex websites bring the most information. Unfortunately, sometimes those websites have the least amount of information. Google will bring up websites like houstonhouseapts.com , apartments.com , apartmentguide.com , apartment finder.com , forrent.com , trulia.com;

Ultimately the best and most useful websites are apartments.com, trulia.com, and zillow.com.

All three websites will allow you to search for an apartment within a specific area using their map search. These websites will give you prices, photos, floor plans  and phone numbers.Sometimes they will also have, 360 photos, and videos.

Downtown Houston Living

After months of driving around downtown my husband and I have learned early on, that there are only a few diamonds in the rough. In my blog, I hope to be able to point you in the right direction.
The most important things for us when we were looking was price, location, and luxury. I will be walking you through each complex we found in the area, and discussing pros and cons of each.
Here We Go.
